Modh Design is an architectural design house that immerses itself in the creative process, exploring ideas and delivering fresh designs. The RIBA Chartered Practice is in Calbourne, a rural community, west of Newport on the Isle of Wight. The team of four work from a converted barn studio, surrounded by farmland with elevated sea views and the central location means that every location on the Island is easily accessible and in true island style, nowhere is far away!
Since 2015, the husband and wife team, Colman Cotter (RIBA Chartered Architect) and Emma Cotter (BA Hons Architecture Graduate Diploma Architecture) have created a welcoming, established, and successful practice with a team that is forever expanding their design portfolio. With a wide client base and varying project styles and sizes, the team seems to have covered all the bases, with each team member bringing their own skill sets, experiences, and qualifications. From the creative conceptual ideas and detailed design, through to more controlled technical detailing, project management, and delivery of a project; Modh’s range of services and holistic approach to every project has enabled them to deliver a high percentage of built projects. Whilst the standard processes remain the same, Modh recognises that every client and project is different and tailor their services to suit. Whilst some clients may only want some initial ideas to set them off on their creative journey, others may want assistance throughout planning, building control compliance, the tender process, and construction management on site until completion.
MEET THE TEAM
Modh Design Ltd is a RIBA Chartered Practice and this status provides clients with the assurance that the Practice is managed in line with professional expectations. This status assures commitment to the best in design, management, and client service. For the procurement of all building projects, we follow the 2020 RIBA Plan of Work, as it is a robust, industry-standard framework that has evolved over years to provide assurance and a transparent structure to the building design and delivery process. The plan provides a framework for the delivery of all building projects and a structure to our Project Management services, but with the flexibility to tailor to individual projects of any size, either new-build or refurbishment. The Plan of Work gives a clear, legible, and flexible structure to a project programme within which key milestones and delivery parameters are monitored. It is an Industry Standard Plan that is familiar to all Construction Professionals and facilitates efficient production and flow of information. The core objectives of the Plan of Work stages are summarised below and hopefully give our clients more information and clarity about the process when working with us.
